Perry is born the 25th of July 1968 in Chicago, Illinois to Laurie Metcalf Perry and Jeff Perry. Her first TV roles included two episodes as Jackie Harris (as seen in flashback) in the ABC sitcom Roseanne, the character portrayed by her mother. Her parents, however, did not allow her to act until she turned an adult, for fear of the negative effects that stress could have on their daughter. Perry claimed she felt timid to perform at the age of 16, but she began performing in theater classes at Northwestern University as a way to connect with people following her transfer from Boston University. Perry had the opportunity to secure tiny TV roles on Law & Order: Criminal Intent after she graduated. However, her homesickness led her to California to return, where she started performing in the stage. She performed on Broadway with her mother in The Other Place with her mother in the year 2013. In 2015, she appeared together with Kevin McKidd alongside her mother in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer-winning Drama Anna Christie. Odyssey Theatre Ensemble Odyssey Theatre Ensemble is located in West Los Angeles. Perry was featured nine times on The Family, an ABC film The Family, in 2016. In 2017 she had her own recurring part on her own ABC Political thriller Scandal starring her father. That same year her character was cast a young character of Mary Cooper (Sheldon Cooper's mother) in Young Sheldon, a spin-off of the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory again playing a young model of the mother's character. She was cast in the role by auditioning for an open role despite having a connection to this persona.
